  3.     REMEMBERING MY MOTHER                RGAaPoet@aol.com

  5.     I walk the silent, lonely streets,
  6.     In sombre solitude,
  7.     Pondering over things that were,
  8.     In ever-changing mood.
  9.  
  10.     Through sifting mists of time,
  11.     I see my mother's kindly smiles;
  12.     The hands that reached to brush a curl;
  13.     The arms that hushed my cries.
  14.  
  15.     I gaze into her loving face --
  16.     I kiss her weary brow,
  17.     Longing, in vain, with heavy heart,
  18.     That she could be here now.
  19.  
  20.     Full well do I remember,
  21.     The times she flew to meet
  22.     My father, working far away,
  23.     To make our lives complete.
  24.  
  25.     These were the times my little heart
  26.     Could not keep back the tears,
  27.     And I would sit down, all alone,
  28.     Crying to curb my fears.
  29.  
  30.     Oh with what joy I greeted her,
  31.     Whenever she came back home!
  32.     And how I almost raised the roof,
  33.     To know no more she'd roam!
  34.  
  35.     The years rolled by, and fate was kind,
  36.     Until one day in May,
  37.     Of nineteen-fifty-eight,
  38.     My mother passed away.
  39.  
  40.     The tears I shed, the pain I felt,
  41.     I hide, but can't deny!
  42.     And deep within the heart of me,
  43.     I know that I still cry....
